If you remember, towards the end of January this year, I paid a visit to IDS for a consultation. IDS mentioned that I have a lot of sunspots and provided me with my own customised line of skincare essentials to brighten, nourish, and prevent my skin from aging.
Earlier this month, I paid another visit to IDS to try out their Hydro-Therapeutics Treatment (HTT) as prescribed by IDS to unclog my pores and remove my face’s dead skin cells to enhance brightness. Actually, during my consultation before the HTT, IDS noticed that my skin looked less dull and more hydrated after trying out the IDS Skincare products for over a month. I’d have to agree with IDS. My favorites so far have been the S2 Non-tinted Sunscreen, C+ Vitamin C Serum, and the RS Recovery Serum. I highly recommend those three products from IDS.
Last week, I visited IDS at the Novena Specialist Center, as part of my collaboration with them. I have been always wary about laser treatments because I have very sensitive skin. However, I’ve done IPL hair removal treatments, and I’ve learned that with the right preparation, there should be nothing to worry about.
Took some “before” photos of my face prior to the treatment.
My skin has definitely improved in texture and in brightness since my first visit to the IDS. However, as you can see, my sunspots and freckles are really visible. Because of this, IDS recommended that I take the BroadBand Light™️ (BBL) Treatment, which is an advanced form of IPL. This treatment uses a newer, cutting-edge technology to produce younger looking skin that’s more evened out in tone and texture.
The BBL Treatment is for brightening and reducing pigmentation caused by the sun. With no surgery required and very little recovery time needed (took me only five days), the BBL Treatment is FDA-cleared and offers a safe, non-invasive option for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation
As a first step, the beautician applied a numbing cream.
The BBL system in IDS has a chilled sapphire that is applied before the light energy is discharged onto the skin. This is an added safety feature to prevent burns and decrease the amount of discomfort from the procedure.
BroadBand Light™️ (BBL) Treatment works by targeting various components in the skin such as pigmentation, blood vessels, and the water in skin tissues. In my case, it was prescribed for my brown facial spots brought by sun damage, my uneven skin tone, developing fine lines, and enlarged pores in certain areas. I’m happy to report that the procedure was super quick and super painless! No discomfort at all.
My face right after the treatment. You can still see my sunspots and bumpy skin, however there was a visible brightness to my face already.
A day or two after the treatment, you can expect mild redness on your skin as well as the darkening skin pigmentation and scabbing.
IDS did tell me that some scabbing will occur, which is to be expected for a treatment such as this one. I wouldn’t recommend taking it if you have a big event that falls on the week of your treatment, as the results will only be visible after around 5-7 days. It’s recommended that you have 5-10 sessions, depending on the severity of your skin’s condition.
After five days, I noticed that most my pigmentations disappeared! I’m doing a super zoom-in so that you can see.
Most of my sunspots are gone, and my face definitely looks brighter. As someone in her early thirties, I am extra careful with my skin nowadays, knowing that I am now more prone to skin aging than ever. Apart from taking good care of my skin, IDS Skincare has really been a great support that helped further enhance and bring out the best in my skin. I highly recommend them. Oh, and if you’re in the mood for really good sunscreen, I cannot stress enough how much I really love their S2 Non-tinted Sunscreen. Definitely my new holy grail.
